Easier said than done
I posted my favorite tagline on my blog this week for the month of April. “Look out the windshield, not the rear view mirror”
This is very easy to say and sometimes hard to do. You know when you are mistreated, walked on or put down the wounds are deep. But the reality is they can be overcome by not focusing on the past. We hear this often, but honestly, it is easier said than done. I am a very positive, upbeat person that would give my last dime to someone that needed it. That is just part of my DNA. When I am struggling with people, it is easier to “look out the windshield, not the rear view mirror” with strangers or arm length relationships vs the people closest to me. Why? Disappointment. You do not “expect” people that you are close to – hurt you, mistreat you or walk on you. Being a doormat for a stranger, competitor is one thing but someone close that you cherish is another.
I need to work on this with people close to me but sometimes the wounds are deep and wide – so bad that a bandage is not enough but a tarp to cover it and heal is more like it.
At the end of the day – people disappoint people. I need to do a better job of practicing what I say – what about you?
