I am thrilled that Nashville recording artist Billy Gilman is partnering with Soles4Souls to distribute half a million shoes around the world. Billy is best known as the youngest singer to reach the Top 40 on the country charts. He accomplished that back in 2000—when he was only twelve years old.

Billy and I had very different teen years. He was an internationally touring recording artist, and I was hawking shoes. Nevertheless, our paths crossed because we both share the same goal—to put shoes on the feet of the shoeless.

This reminds me of something I heard a long time ago, “It’s not how you start; it’s how you finish.” Whether you are a twelve-year-old singing sensation, a third string basketball player, a valedictorian, or a high school drop out, your life has meaning and purpose. You have the ability to change the world.

It matters what you choose to do today—not tomorrow or sometime in the future. People are hurting, and you have the ability to do something about it.

What will you do today to leave a lasting impact?
